02 · Who you'd be working with

I have been tutoring high school and college students since 2004. As Cabrillo College math faculty and director of its Math Learning Center, I have watched students hit the same challenges again and again, and helped them find their way through and develop their confidence in a topic that can be seen as daunting by many.

It is my belief that math is for everyone. The idea of a math person and non-math person is a falsehood, and all students are capable of learning what it takes to succeed. I practice an open process, free of judgment, to help students build the foundations necessary to succeed in STEM from wherever they are in the journey.

Math is one of the rare subjects that is not just about knowledge; students must also practice regularly to develop underlying problem solving skills, which is why it is often compared to music or athletics. And, just like music and athletics, students benefit from a good coach helping them on their journey, and directing them to specific practice.
